 Experience the unseen.

Travel your way, with us.

TRIS Travels is a community-rooted venture built on authenticity, personalisation, and immersive tours. We craft journeys that feel like coming home — shaped entirely around your way of experiencing the world, and deeply rooted in the communities you visit. Every trip nurtures local livelihoods, safeguards cultural traditions, and forges lasting connections between travelers and the people who welcome them.

OUR STORY.

Meiieid - TRIS Travels

TRIS Travels is a venture that was inspired by my dear grandmother, whom I lovingly call ‘Mei-ieid’ - in the Khasi language, mei-ieid (loosely pronounced ‘may aid') means grandmother. The neighbourhood and her circles know her for her kindness, generosity, hospitality, hard work and resilience. She is also a very good host! She loves to prepare the absolute best traditional food for her family members and friends and even pack her speciality, ‘ja-khaw’ and ‘doh shaiñ’ - two famous Khasi traditional foods for the road - her guests would rarely leave empty-handed.

Mei-ieid is from a village called Mairang, located in Eastern West Khasi Hills District in Meghalaya. Mairang is also known for being the residence of the Khasi freedom fighter, U Tirot Singh. Through Mei-ieid’s hard work and persistence, she was able to construct a house and support all her children and even distant relatives to stand on their own feet. Her joy in life is to see people she loves, do well and be happy. Her contribution and support are unconditional even to the extent of sacrificing her own comfort for the good of others.

Who I am today is because of her - she has shaped my life in more ways than I can explain. As my source of inspiration, TRIS travels was founded with the same ethos that she embodies - generous hospitality, resilience, and originality. With the motto, “Not our way, but yours”, TRIS travels aims to offer unique, tailor-made travel packages. We believe every guest and traveller is special and different and so are their likes, needs, and wants. Our guests choose, and we aim to do our best to provide.

Root Trails: Offbeat Living root bridge

Root Trails is designed for travellers who want to explore Meghalaya beyond the postcard route. This is a community-rooted journey where you stay in a village, walk quiet forest paths, and visit living root bridges that most travellers never reach. The group remains small — 4 to 10 people — so experiences stay personal, safe, and open to connection. You share transport and stay, making it affordable, but still meaningful and respectful to the land.

WHY TRAVELERS TRUST TRIS.

Uma, Bangalore

When asked about the best part of the tour Uma said

“Can't pick one, but loved the sights at Sohra and the cultural program at Kaziranga.

Loved how Rose kept in touch with us throughout the trip and ensured we were well taken care of.

Will surely recommend. Thank you!"

Suchismita Ghosh

Travelling to Meghalaya was a dream and Rose ensured that dream was made real. Right from a smooth airport pick-up to giving us homestays in gorgeous locations to accommodating every small request I made; she did it all so well. David, our driver was such a fun and helpful companion in this journey too. Overall, I am very pleased and would gladly recommend TRIS to friends and family.
