His Experience with TRIS Travels

I would like to thank TRIS travels and the entire team for their amazing support in helping me to design our trip to Meghalaya (The Scotland of the East). It was a great and well-arranged trip. Our trip was short just 6 days but we managed to visit some of the most beautiful places on earth.

Our trip started from MAWPHANLUR, a very tiny village at the top of a hill with a pristine lake, secluded, where you can actually feel the clouds. We were lucky to see the beautiful sunrise as that day there were no clouds. The views from this place are like paintings. TRIS travels had arranged Mawphanlur traveler's Nest for our stay, very comfortable, with a view of the lake, waking up to this view is bliss. Walking around the hill was so refreshing with the amazing views, we tried kayaking as well. This place is great for relaxing and enjoying nature. Their breakfast came as a surprise served with a unique bread and some potato sabzi, a must try.

Our next destination was MAWLYNGBNA, very close to the India-Bangladesh border. This is a place for adventure lovers, you can play with nature here. There are a host of activities to choose from. We loved river Canyoning, a must-try here. The trekking was so serene with the crickets whistling all throughout and of course the waterfalls, you can sit and stare at them all day long.

A must-visit to KREM MAWPUN cave in Lawbah, you have to visit this place to believe it. Our stay was arranged at Meghalaya Vacation home, which is very simple and sweet, the dinners were really great, must try the yellow rice and sesame pork, order in advance. We took a walking tour of the tiny town in the morning, it was very pleasing to see the town preparing for the day.

Our final destination was CHERRAPUNJEE. This place has some beautiful waterfalls and hills, a paradise for photographers. You will see many of them on the way but if you want to go closer you have to walk a bit and wear proper shoes when you visit these waterfalls. They are so untouched and in nature, the sound of the water creates a symphony you will remember forever.

We visited the MAWSMAI cave, you have to cross a tiny passage inside the cave, for some it might be a challenge but worth trying. A must try, Maggie and lal chai in those tiny roadside shops, the weather here gives you that craving for Maggie no matter how health conscious you are, we loved it. Our stay was arranged at Saimika resort. Since this is a resort, there is a bit of luxury but it still carries the charm of the hills with rock walls. The food is really nice, you have options to choose from.

It was time to say goodbye but we will come back once again to this beautiful place to live with nature. TRIS travels, a heartfelt thank you once again for this wonderful itinerary and for creating ever-lasting memories for us. If anyone is planning a trip to Meghalaya please connect with them, we found them really hospitable and trustworthy.
