Meghalaya is a year-round destination, with each season offering a unique travel experience. Known for its ever-changing weather, visitors can often experience multiple seasons in a single day, regardless of the time of year.
March to May (Summer in Meghalaya)
Summer in Meghalaya is pleasant, with temperatures ranging between 15°C to 25°C. This is one of the best times to visit Meghalaya for sightseeing, outdoor activities, and cultural experiences. Days are usually sunny with cool breezes, followed by occasional light showers.
Travelers can also witness the vibrant Shad Suk Mynsiem, a major cultural festival celebrated in April.
June to September (Monsoon in Meghalaya)
Monsoon transforms Meghalaya into a lush green paradise. If you enjoy rain and dramatic landscapes, this is the best time to experience the region at its most vibrant.
Destinations like Sohra and Mawsynram—known as some of the wettest places on Earth—come alive with mist, clouds, and powerful rain-fed waterfalls. This season is perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and those seeking a raw, immersive experience.
October to February (Winter in Meghalaya)
Winter in Meghalaya is crisp, clear, and scenic, with temperatures ranging from 3°C to 16°C. This is considered one of the best times to visit for trekking, cave exploration, and comfortable travel conditions.
In November, Shillong hosts the Cherry Blossom season, when the city turns shades of pink. The winter months also bring festive cheer with Christmas celebrations, bonfires, and local events like the Strawberry Festival.
Visitors are advised to carry warm clothing, especially for early mornings and evenings.
Travel Tip
No matter when you visit, Meghalaya’s weather can be unpredictable. It’s always recommended to pack layers and be prepared for sudden changes in weather conditions.

Absolutely! While Meghalaya is known for its love of meat, vegetarian travelers are well-accommodated. Many restaurants offer vegetarian options, though purely vegetarian establishments might be rare. Beyond Shillong, our warm-hearted hosts take pride in preparing meals that cater to all preferences, ensuring you enjoy delicious, locally-inspired vegetarian dishes.
Mobile network connectivity in Meghalaya is generally reliable in urban areas like Shillong, where you can expect stable 4G coverage and access to high-speed internet, including fiber connections in many hotels and cafés.
However, in rural and remote regions such as Sohra, Mawsynram, and interior villages, network strength may be inconsistent or limited depending on the location and service provider.
For international travelers, it is recommended to purchase a local SIM card upon arrival at the airport for better connectivity during your trip.
While connectivity may vary, it also offers a chance to disconnect from routine and fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty and peaceful landscapes of Meghalaya.

When asked about the best part of the tour Uma said
“Can't pick one, but loved the sights at Sohra and the cultural program at Kaziranga.
Loved how Rose kept in touch with us throughout the trip and ensured we were well taken care of.
Will surely recommend. Thank you!"

Travelling to Meghalaya was a dream and Rose ensured that dream was made real. Right from a smooth airport pick-up to giving us homestays in gorgeous locations to accommodating every small request I made; she did it all so well. David, our driver was such a fun and helpful companion in this journey too. Overall, I am very pleased and would gladly recommend TRIS to friends and family.
